Doris Hansen
Doris Hansen, is a board certified physician assistant based in downtown Toronto, Canada.
She has been practicing PA for over 11 years. She completed her undergraduate and masters in a 5 year program at Wagner College PA school in New York city. She has worked in various specialties in various locations including Pediatric Neurology in Brooklyn, NY, a traveling Primary Care PA in rural California, Reconstructive and Hand Plastic Surgery PA in Cooperstown, NY and her most recent experience in cosmetics Plastic Surgery In Toronto Canada. Her most recent position in cosmetic plastic has led her to expand on the need for qualified experienced health professionals addressing scars and healing which brought her to the concept of Scar Therapy.
Currently, she has been working towards bringing Scar Therapy to the full scope of her vision. Working towards having 3D Areola tattooing for reconstructive purposes to be covered by insurance in Canada and be accessible to all patients who wish to be restored.
She has been actively advocating for the PA profession here in Canada, working towards expanding the services in the health care system.
How it started
After working in plastic reconstructive surgery, Doris had the chance to accompany cancer patients in their whole journey (during the chemotherapy treatment) including the final stages in their reconstructive surgery. During thorough talks with patients, she noticed that there was something missing in the recovery process and felt the need to restore their feeling of being comfortable in their own skin again. She decided to offer an essential service that was limited inside of the health care practice which is the 3d areola micro pigmentation for post mastectomy surgeries.
Where we are Today
Scar Therapy was then created to house all the knowledge and experience Doris collected throughout the years… A place where patients can come and feel comfortable addressing all of their scar care needs.
The initial assessment process can determine the best option for your scar. Given Doris’ medical background, we are able to provide you with access and knowledge of scar care at every stage of the healing process. We customize treatment plans based on location of the scar, pigment of the scar, texture and expectations.
